Hartlepool trust seeks hospital TAs

North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has issued a tender notice for technical advisers to help deliver its proposed new Hartlepool hospital.

The trust is planning to establish a framework agreement with advisers who can support it during the design and development of the new hospital project and for other projects associated with the trust's existing estate.

Efforts to deliver the new hospital have been bogged down in a series of funding problems, with the trust at first told that a publicly funded option would be too expensive, only to drop plans for a PFI approach ahead of the review of the procurement model.

Following an initiative to fund the project entirely through pension fund investment, the trust received only one bidder – Brookfield Multiplex – in April this year. Since then, it is understood that the trust has been in negotiations with the government over how to fund the project.

Technical advisers interested in the project have until midday on 30 November to submit tenders.
