Efforts to deliver the new hospital have been bogged down in a series of funding problems, with the trust at first told that a publicly funded option would be too expensive, only to drop plans for a PFI approach ahead of the review of the procurement model.
Following an initiative to fund the project entirely through pension fund investment, the trust received only one bidder – Brookfield Multiplex – in April this year. Since then, it is understood that the trust has been in negotiations with the government over how to fund the project.
Technical advisers interested in the project have until midday on 30 November to submit tenders.
