India moots tourism PPPs

The Indian state of Haryana is looking to roll out a series of leisure PPP projects designed to boost tourism in the region.

Chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said several projects, including  an amusement park at Tilyar Lake in Rohtak, heritage hotel in the forts of Mahendergarh and an integrated tourist resort at Madhogarh, are being planned.

Hooda said the initiatives represent part of the state government’s dedicated policy – introduced in 2008 – to significantly increase tourism to the area.

Convention centres have already been commissioned at Surajkund, Tilyar Lake, Rohtak and Bhiwani as part of that aim, and the new projects will complement these.
