Infratil plans Aussie PPP investment

Investor Infratil has announced its intention to invest A$100m (US$95.9m) in greenfield social infrastructure PPP schemes in Australia.

The Wellington-based company is looking to increase its exposure to the Australian market through the Australia Social Infrastructure Partners (ASIP) platform.

“Infratil has been assessing the Australian PPP market for some time, and in particular the best access point to pursue the significant pipeline of development opportunities that exists across the education, health and transport sectors,” said chief executive Marko Bogoievski.

“Infratil has observed that greenfield PPP investments offer risk-adjusted development returns that are comparable to the returns available in adjacent infrastructure sectors such as greenfield Australian wind projects.”

Through the ASIP platform, Infratil will develop a more strategic alliance with Australian developer Leighton Contractors.
