Zimbabwe eyeing housing PPP

The Zimbabwe government is gearing up to launch a housing PPP.

The government will soon unveil the PPP as it intensifies efforts to provide decent accommodation to urban dwellers, says Deputy Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Joel Biggie Matiza.

"We have a housing programme that we are going to unveil. We are working on it as a ministry. This involves public private partnerships. In the next couple of weeks we will be launching the first partnership once the Memorandum of Understanding passes through the relevant Cabinet committee."

Matiza said the project would start in Harare's high-density suburb of Dzivarasekwa and that many private companies had shown interest in partnering in the project.
