Bidder confirms Philippines LRT interest

Interest in the Cavite Line 1 light rail transit (LRT) project in the Philippines is hotting up after a national firm confirmed its bidding plans.

National firm Megawide Construction has confirmed that it is in talks with a number of potential foreign partners for the project, which involves the railway’s 11.7-km expansion and operation to Bacoor in Cavite from its current Baclaran terminus.

Details of the foreign partner have yet to be revealed, but it is thought to be based in Asia and have significant experience in railway technology and construction.

The deal has been blighted by numerous delays and deadline extensions over the past year but was officially approved by the National Economic and Development Authority board last week.
