3i invests in Dutch military PPP

3i Infrastructure has announced plans to invest in a national military PPP.

The group has revealed that it will invest €6.3m in an 80% stake in the National Military Museum (NMM) PPP project in the Netherlands.

The investment is in line with the company's strategy of increasing its exposure to the primary PPP market. Heijmans NV, the construction contractor, will retain the remaining 20% holding.

As part of the plans, the NMM project was procured under a typical PPP framework by the Dutch Ministry of Defence and comprises the design, build, finance and maintenance of a museum facility on the site of the former Soesterberg Airbase, located about 60kms south east of Amsterdam.

When completed the museum will showcase military hardware and hold various related events, including workshops and symposia on military research. It is set to be completed in September 2014.
