Bulgarian roads ‘need private cash'

Up to €32m is urgently needed for road infrastructure in Bulgaria, which could come from private investment.

Lazar Lazarov, chairperson for the agency, said: "Up to €32m is urgently needed for the road infrastructure agency so as to finalise the big infrastructure sites and projects, as well as to prepare the road network for the winter."

Lazarov said €16m is needed for current repairs, while another €16m for the development of new projects for the network. He added that over the last year the agency had seen a higher than usual deficit, adding that private investment could be an option for the future.
