Mark Thurston has been appointed the new European managing director, having previously served as the company’s director of operations for Europe based at its regional headquarters in London.
He has more than 20 years of experience in project and programme management, working in both the private and public sectors on major infrastructure projects.
Thurston joined the company in 2008 and has spent the majority of the last three years managing the programme partner joint venture (known as Transcend) on London’s Crossrail project. In the two years prior to this he was the programme delivery manager leading the roads and bridges programme on the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games, as a member of the CLM delivery partner joint venture.
Jacque Hinman, chairman and chief executive of CH2M Hill, said: "Mark has worked on some of the UK’s most iconic infrastructure programmes including the London 2012 Olympic Games and Crossrail and has a wealth of experience in project and programme management. He is well placed to take forward our business in Europe and provide the leadership and market insight that will enable us to continue to grow our market share and ensure we deliver outstanding projects for our clients."
In September, the company announced plans to significantly restructure its business, which would reduce its workforce by 1,200.
