Four in for Canberra LRT

Four teams have submitted expressions of interest for the ACT government’s Capital Metro project in Canberra.

ACT’s Minister for Capital Metro, Simon Corbell, announced the following four teams had submitted their interest:
  • Canberra Metro, led by Pacific Partnerships and including Mitsubishi, Aberdeen Infrastructure Investments and Leighton Contractors, among others;
  • Activate, led by Downer EDI Works and including Plenary, Bombardier, Keolis and Parsons Brinckerhoff, among others;
  • Connecting Canberra, led by Capella Capital and including TransDev, Alston, Acciona Infrastructure, and Coleman Rail;
  • Cango, led by Macquarie Capital and including Obrascon Huarte Lain, SMRT International, UGL Rail Services and Siemens

"It is pleasing to see so many nationally and internationally respected companies are interested in becoming involved in this important project for the national capital,” said Corbell. “It is also expected that many companies from our local region will be associated with the four consortia."

As previously reported by Partnerships Bulletin, a shortlist will now be drawn up before requests for proposals are issued in the New Year. Work on the new line from Canberra to Gungahlin is scheduled to begin in 2016.
