Financial close for Wick Campus

A contract has been signed for the £50m Wick Campus project under the Scottish government’s Scotland’s Schools for the Future programme.

Highland Council has reached financial close on the design, build, finance and maintain contract with the Hub North Hubco, comprising Galliford Try (formerly Miller Construction) and Sweett Group. Plans for the Hubco to take on the work were agreed back in February 2013.

Under the agreement, the Hubco will deliver a new community campus for Wick incorporating a replacements for the existing Wick High School, South Primary School and Pulteneytown Academy Primary School. It will also replace the existing community swimming pool and community library.

The £48.5m project is supported by the Scottish government and the Scottish Futures Trust. Aviva is providing the debt on the deal.
