Progress for Dulwich Lift scheme

Plans for a new health centre in Dulwich to be delivered through the lift programme have progressed to the detailed design stage.

The new centre is to be built on land currently occupied by Dulwich Community Hospital, and is scheduled to open in 2019.

NHS Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Community Health Partnerships (CHP) are looking to develop a £20m centre providing primary care, community mental health services and support for patients with long-term conditions.

The project will be delivered through the Building Better Health – Lambeth, Southwark, & Lewisham Lift programme.

"Over the past decade CHP, through the Lift programme, has successfully delivered over 300 similar projects, which have provided a significant range of health and regeneration benefits through the creation of community-based buildings and facilities,” said CHP chief executive Sue O’Connell.

Lift projects had faced a number of delays after the abolition of primary care trusts, with uncertainties over the approvals process following the introduction of CCGs.
