Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ali Massoud Al Sunaidy, has told a recent conference that Oman will look at developing PPPs across a variety of sectors, including housing, health and wastewater.
He explained that the country’s liberalisation of power generation and water production over recent years would stand it in good stead to branch out into PPPs for social infrastructure sectors.
His ministry is also preparing a new law around the way in which investment can be increased in the country’s infrastructure.
Last month, Dubai in the neighbouring United Arab Emirates passed a new PPP law as the region looks to diversify its investment options away from its traditional reliance on oil revenues.
