Winner for Barcelona uni PPP

A contract has been awarded for the expansion of the Universitat de Barcelona university project in Barcelona.

The consortium of Spanish developers Acciona and Acsa have commenced construction of a €44m extension for the Faculty of Law at the university according to a spokesperson for the team. 

The team will build the first phase of the faculty plus maintain the new building and design the energy interconnection facilities.

Other bidders were Ferrovial, Dragados and Construccions Rubau with Construtora Calaf, however all three pulled out of the project for a variety of reasons. 

The Children's Investment Fund Management  is financing the deal.   

Meanwhile, the city of Barcelona has requested the municipal company Barcelona Municipal Infrastructure (BIMSA) to procure 12 studies for the  viability new LRT tram project.
