German schools launched

Two school projects have been launched under PPP models in different parts of Germany.

The Municipality of Heikendorf in Schleswig-Holstein is seeking a private partner to design, build, finance manage and operate a new primary school. The contractor will manage the three-storey building with a 6,200m2 gross floor area for 25 years.
Construction will be financed by the contractor and is expected to cost over €10m.

Requests to participate are due by 5 February 2016.
Meanwhile, the district of Saale-Holzland (Saale-Holzland-Kreis) in Thuringia has decided to use PPP for the renovation of a community school. The new primary school is to be delivered through a PPP project while the subsequent restoration of the existing building is to take place under a conventional procurement.
