Liverpool uni housing backed

Planning permission has been given on a site for the creation of 1,085 new student bedrooms in Liverpool.

Student accommodation provider Unite Students has been given the consent for the £70m development, which will provide housing for students from both the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University.

Situated near Liverpool's Lime Street station and close to the new student university campus, the development forms part of Unite's Grand Central student village programme, which has already been built.

“This development will help to meet the strong demand for student accommodation and provide a safe and secure home for students,” said Richard Simpson, managing director of property for Unite Students. “We will continue to progress our secured pipeline which remains focused on regional locations with strong student markets."
