Kajima appoints projects director

Japanese developer Kajima has appointed a new projects director for its UK team.

Ben O’Connor will focus on mixed-use development and regeneration projects with a local authority partnership component, upon his departure from the Homes & Communities Agency in Bristol.

Kirk Taylor, development director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ben to the team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in funding and delivering social infrastructure development, and has an excellent track record in working with local authorities on strategic partnerships, as well as more broadly on project acquisition and management, strategic and commercial reviews.”

With years of experience in manager and director positions, O’Connor delivered projects across the health and residential sectors, handling consultancy teams and securing the approval of public authorities.

O’Connor, who served as associate director at commercial property agency GVA for 12 years, holds a degree in town and country planning from the University of the West of England in Bristol and an MSc in commercial property management from Liverpool John Moores.

Kajima was recently shortlisted for the first bundle of the Irish Housing PPP.
