Details emerge on Marseille schools project

Exclusive: The city of Marseille has revealed details on the timeline of its €1bn education PPP scheme.

The council confirmed to Partnerships Bulletin that the first bundle, which is to include two contract notices, will be signed around spring 2019 for the delivery of 14 schools in July 2021.

Under the second bundle, the third and fourth contracts will be signed in spring 2022, with the delivery of a dozen schools.

Signing for the remaining two opportunities is expected in December 2022, so that the winner will be able to complete works by summer 2025.

Following approval by the Ministry of Economy and the Direction Régionale des Finances Publiques (DRFiP), Marseille announced plans to demolish and replace 31 schools with 28 buildings and deliver six new schools earlier this week.
