Macquarie Atlas Roads buys stake in French road operator

Macquarie Atlas Roads (MQA) has completed the acquisition of interest in a French motorway operator.

MQA bought an additional 4.86% stake in Autoroutes Paris-Rhin-Rhone (APRR) for €440m, bringing its total interest in the French firm to 25%.

APRR is wholly owned by Eiffarie, a team including MQA and Eiffage, which has a majority stake in the road operator.

The acquisition was funded through equity, debt and corporate cash.

The company announced this week that its current chief executive officer is to step down.

The Australian has reported that MQA’s shareholders are considering to replace Macquarie as the manager because of fees.

Meanwhile, Vinci has acquired Australian construction firm Seymour Whyte.
