Winner for Phil water PPP

A winner has been chosen for the project to develop new water supply and sanitation facilities to a region of the Philippines.

Manila Water, a subsidiary of contractor Ayala, has won the contract to design, build, rehabilitate, maintain, operate, finance, expand and manage the water supply for the Province of Leyte.

The Leyte Metropolitan Water District will enter into the partnership deal with Manila Water, creating a special purpose vehicle that will have sole and exclusive right to manage, operate, maintain, repair, refurbish and improve, expand and as appropriate, decommission, the facilities.

Earlier this month, the Asian Development Bank gave its support to the Philippine central government’s creation of the ‘hybrid’ PPP model, in which the private sector invests only after construction is complete.
