Three in for Malta energy PPP

The Government of Malta has received three proposals for an energy PPP.

Interfinance, Bajada New Energy and International Renewable Energy Development (Enemalta and Shanghai Electric Power) responded to a request for proposals (RFP) to design, build and finance grid-connected photovoltaic systems on the rooftops of four schools.

The country’s Privatisation Unit issued the RFP in September for partners to deliver the project and maintain the infrastructure at Rabat Middle School, Kirkop Middle School, Pembroke National Sport School and Naxxar Higher Secondary (New Block).

Under the 20-year concession, the grid-connected photovoltaic systems should be installed within three months after the contract is signed so that operation can start soon afterwards.
