UAE plans bigger PPP role

The Government of the United Arab Emirates is looking to develop more PPP schemes in the near future, a senior official has said.

Anwaar Al Shaimmari, director of design department and chief innovation officer at the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, told the Khaleej Times that the UAE expects that “the private sector will play a bigger role” in infrastructure development.

Speaking at an event organised by the newspaper, she added: “There will be much more PPPs in the field of infrastructure.”

Last month, the UAE was ranked 10th in the 2017 Infrastructure Index, published by law firm CMS.
