Flemish government agency Afdeling Bovenschelde is planning to renew the Denderleeuw lock complex and remove the Teralfene lock complex .
Due to the continuing risk of flooding in the area between Denderleeuw and Geraardsbergen, the government has decided to renew obsolete locks and dams on the Dender.
Under the tender, follow-up studies are to be completed with PPP models under consideration.
Bids are due by 11 December.
Afdeling Bovenschelde manages and maintains the canals and non-tide rivers in East and West Flanders.
In October, Flanders issued a request for qualifications for private partners to design, build, finance and maintain eight steel arch bridges under a 30-year concession as part of cluster 2 of the Albert Canal PPP.
