Chinese target Philippines airport PPP

The Government of the Philippines has received seven bids for an airport project, with three bidders from China.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China Harbour Engineering Company, Sinohydro Corporation, a Megawide-GMR Infrastructure (Singapore) joint venture, DDT Konstract, R-II Builders and Tokwing Construction Corporation submitted bids to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

With an estimated cost of PHP12.55bn ($322m), the project involves the expansion of the airport with a 82,600sq m terminal to serve eight million passengers a year, nearly doubling its current capacity.

The BCDA launched the project earlier this year under the government-sponsored hybrid model, with a private partner designing, building and financing the new terminal through official development assistance or state funding.
