Norton Rose completes Aussie acquisition

Law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has completed the acquisition of Australian firm Henry Davis York, with the two firms officially combining from 1 December.

The firm will be known as Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia, and the agreement makes it a top-five firm in the country, with offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Perth.

“This has been a big year of growth for our firm, with the completion of combinations in Canada (with Bull Housser), the US (with Chadbourne & Parke) and now Australia with HDY,” said global chief executive Peter Martyr.

Managing partner in Australia, Wayne Spanner, added: “This day marks an important milestone. It builds on our achievements to date and incorporates the very best of HDY and its proud legacy into our business.”

Norton Rose announced the planned merger back in June.
