Belgian depot PPP launched

A Belgian public transport company has issued a contract notice for a depot PPP.

De Lijn, run by the Flemish government, is seeking private partners to design, build and finance a tram and bus depot in the city of Ghent.

The winner will also maintain the infrastructure for 28 years.

The project will consist of parking places for trams and buses, washing, refuelling and trapping facilities, track and overhead lines, offices and core maintenance and repair infrastructure.

Works will take place in the Gent Parallelweg and Gent Wiedauwkaai sites.

Interested parties have until 15 March to submit responses.

Earlier this month, a local authority in north-west Belgium sought partners to design, build and finance a group of assisted-living apartments in the town of Lede, between Brussels and Ghent.
