Hub tops £1bn

Scotland’s Hub programme has handed over more than £1bn-worth of projects since becoming fully operational five years ago, the Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) has revealed.

The programme’s five Hub companies have handed over 142 projects since 2012, valued at a combined £1.3bn, while a further 67 – also valued at £1.3bn – are currently under construction or in the final stages of development.

“Improved value, speed of delivery, increased community benefits and expert project management are just some of the reasons Scotland’s public sector are specifying hub to plan, construct and in many cases, manage their new buildings,” said David MacDonald, Hub programme director at SFT.

Last week, the Scottish government’s draft Budget pointed to further investment in the Hub programme as part of its efforts to improve infrastructure across the country.
