London regen scheme launched

The Greater London Authority (GLA), through Transport for London, is looking for a development partner to deliver regeneration schemes on a series of sites in east London.

Working with the London Boroughs of Newham, Havering, and Barking and Dagenham, the private partner will be required to develop a range of industrial sites that can be brought to market in a “coordinated and consolidated manner”.

Under the plans, the partner will create a development and disposal strategy for the sites, with short, medium and long-term proposals.

The sites currently identified cover 40 hectares, however the GLA may include further sites once the partnership is up and running.

“It is proposed that the partnership should be time limited with a clearly defined exit strategy; the duration of the partnership should be long enough for a partner to take an investment view and bring the sites to the market without creating over-supply,” the contract notice states.

Interested parties have until midday on 23 January 2015 to respond.
