Winner for German civic PPP

A preferred bidder has been chosen for a civic PPP in Berlin.

BAM has won the contract for the Das Haus der Zukunft (House of the Future) PPP project in Berlin.

The contract includes the development, construction and maintenance and operation for 28 years. The building will be completed by the end of 2016 at a cost of €58m.

Das Haus der Zukunft is located along the river Spree next to the Ministry of Education and Research office building, which was recently completed by BAM as a PPP. The site is in the immediate vicinity of Berlin Central Station.

The building will consist of 8,000sq m of floor space for special exhibitions and events. The purpose of the House of the Future is to “motivate people of all ages to delve into scientific research and future-related issues”.

Local Berlin architecture agency, Richter Musikowski, submitted the winning design.
