Government grants Sizewell C planning

The UK government has given development consent to the Sizewell C nuclear power plant.

Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Kwasi Kwarteng, has granted the consent, which allows the project to go ahead.

Consent had been widely anticipated, with the government having backed the concept and pledging to co-invest alongside EDF and a range of private sector investors. However, the deadline for the final decision was postponed twice, before being approved today.

Earlier this month, Partnerships Bulletin reported that Barclays and Rothschilds had been engaged to start the search for private investors in the project.
