New chief for Hochtief

Infrastructure giant Hochtief has appointed a new chief executive of its global business.

The firm’s supervisory board has unanimously elected Juan Santamaría Cases as its new chief executive, succeeding Marcelino Fernández Verdes, who has led the company since November 2012.

Cases has been part of the Hochtief group for many years, most recently serving as chief executive of subsidiary Cimic until May 2022, when he was appointed chief executive of ACS, the company where he started his career.

“The change at the top of Hochtief is part of a structured succession planning process,” said Pedro López Jiménez, chairman of the Hochtief supervisory board. “Juan Santamaría has many years of international industry experience in various business segments.”

Fernández Verdes will continue to work for the ACS and Hochtief group as chairman of Abertis.
