Shortlist for A$294m Victoria convention centre PPP

The Government of Victoria has shortlisted three teams for its Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCEC) PPP.

The Government of Victoria has shortlisted three teams for its Geelong Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCEC) PPP.

The three bidders are:

  • Kinetik
    Tetris Capital, Amber Australia, Kane Constructions, ISS Facility Services, CostaFox Developments, Warren & Mahoney & Six Degrees

  • Geelong Live
    Capella Capital, Aware Super, Lendlease Building, Honeywell, MAB Corporation, Populous, Hassell, Freadman White & Oculus

  • Plenary Conventions
    Plenary, Built, BGIS, Woods Bagot, WSP & 4D Workshop

Under the plans, the winning team will redevelop Geelong’s waterfront with a mixed-use development featuring a convention centre, hotel and commercial spaces.

The A$294m project will be delivered through a design, build, finance, operate and maintain model.

Victorian Minister for Regional Development Harriet Shing said it was “fantastic to see such a high calibre of consortia eager to be a part of creating this world-class centre and precinct for the City of Geelong and its surrounds.”

According to an indicative timeline, a winner will be announced mid-2023. Construction is slated to start later that year.
