Homes England to provide Silvertown regen loan

Housing agency Homes England has agreed to provide a loan to support the delivery of the £3.5bn Silvertown regeneration scheme in East London.

Being delivered by a joint venture between Lendlease and Starwood Capital, the project will deliver 6,000 new homes and support the creation of 1.8 million sq ft of business workspace, alongside new space for cultural and community events and a new town centre for the Royal Docks.

Homes England will provide a £233m infrastructure loan to support The Silvertown Partnership, which has pledged to ensure 50% of homes built at the site are affordable.

“Our commitment to the Silvertown project is another example of how we can work with the private sector to bring forward large, complex sites and help to transform them into the places of the future,” said Homes England chair, Peter Freeman.
