Following a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Liz Truss confirmed plans for closer working on nuclear power between the two countries, including “joint support” for Sizewell C.
According to the Financial Times, this will see the UK and France’s EDF each taking a 50% share in the company developing Sizewell C, with EDF’s involvement dropping to 20% if construction plans go ahead.
This is in line with the UK government’s plans to encourage private investment into the construction of Sizewell C, with plans to invest 20% in the construction phase itself, with the remaining 60% coming from institutional and other investors.
In July, Partnerships Bulletin revealed the UK government had begun the search for investors into the £20bn project.
