Badagry Seaport gains federal approval

The Badagry Deep Seaport has been given approval by the federal government to progress, meaning the scheme can now go out to tender for bidders.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State, announced that he had received the approval document from the federal government to deliver the project.

He said the development of the port would help tackle a series of issues facing the region, including logistics and the speed of importing goods to Lagos.

“We believe Lagos is assured to remain the economic commercial nerve centre of the entire sub-Saharan Africa region,” said Sanwo-Olu.

In August, Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council approved the scheme, which is being planned as a 45-year concession project under a PPP model.
