New Brazil prison P3 launched

The Government of Santa Catarina, Brazil, has released a notice for its major prison P3 project.

Under the plans, private partners will design, build, finance, operate and maintain a new 2,900 capacity prison in Blumenau.

The prison is expected to require around $50m of investment. The overall contract will last for 30 years.

Brazil’s national development bank, BNDES, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Federal Investment Partnership Program (PPI) advised the authority on the deal.

The auction will take place on December 20, 2022. The full tender can be found here.

Earlier this year, the Government of Rio Grande Do Sul conducted an auction for its prison concession located in Erechim.
