Andrew Furey suggested a P3 model could be used to deliver a replacement for the St Clare’s Mercy Hospital.
Announcing the government’s support of plans to deliver the new hospital, Furey added that the new hospital could be built on the site of the former Grace Hospital.
The government will look to engage consultants in the coming weeks to begin planning the project, including looking at the most appropriate procurement model for the scheme.
“We know that modern healthcare infrastructure creates better working environments and helps attract healthcare professionals, which leads to better health care services - and that is why it is important to replace this century-old building,” Furey said.
