Peru signs transmission P3

The Peruvian government has signed the contracts to deliver two transmission line schemes under a P3.

The Ministry of Energy and Mines has signed the deal for the Link 220 kV Reque - Nueva Carhuaquero, substations, lines and associated extensions project, and the SE Nueva Tumbes 220/60 kV - 75 MVA and LT 60 kV Nueva Tumbes - Tumbes scheme.

Both schemes are being delivered under a P3 model by the Acciona-led concession company, Concesionaria Transmisora Reque Tumbes.

Infrastructure investments agency ProInversion awarded the schemes to Acciona in July this year, having tendered the project back in October last year.

The projects will expand the transmission capacity between Chiclayo and Cajamarca, in addition to increasing the transformation capacity to serve the Tumbes electrical system.
