UK, Kenya link up on PPPs

The British and Kenyan governments have agreed to “accelerate the flow” of financing into Kenyan infrastructure.

The projects include major projects such as the Grand High Falls Dam and the Railway City project in Nairobi.

As part of the agreement the UK government is working with Kenya on a new guarantee company that will look to de-risk investments and unlock private finance from pension funds and insurance companies for projects in the country.

“The UK and Kenya go far when we go together. By fast-tracking finance into these clean, green projects with honest, reliable investment the UK is supporting Kenya to advance and maintain its continent-leading climate credentials - with mutual benefits for both our countries,” said Jane Marriott, British High Commissioner to Kenya.
