The ministers have given their backing to the adoption of the study process and preparation for the launch of the PPP, which will cover the construction and equipment of the hospital.
Under the plans, a private partner will design, build, finance and maintain the hospital, as well as supply and install the equipment. It will cover energy and utilities, as well as the management of car parks, with the contract to run for 30 years.
Last month, Minister of Health Manuel Pizarro told a parliamentary health commission that he is in favour of using the PPP model to deliver the new hospital.
