MoD agrees PFI follow-on contract

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has agreed a two-year deal to continue the provision of marine services following the end of its existing PFI contract.

Serco has been providing the £1bn contract for the supply of marine services for the past 15 years under the PFI deal, but with that due to come to an end at the end of this year, a follow-on deal has been agreed that will see Serco continue to provide the services for another 27 months.

Commencing in December 2022, the new deal follows on directly from the current PFI, ensuring continuity of support. There is also an option for the MoD to extend the contract by a further six months.

“We look forward to continuing this support for many years to come, drawing on Serco’s increasing global maritime presence to innovate for our customers in the UK,” said Serco group chief executive Rupert Soames.
