The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) is set to release a request for qualification (RFQ) for the Hudson Tunnel project.
The project will be delivered through a Project Delivery Partner (PDP), in which the partner will be incentivized and “embedded with the asset owner”.
The model is making its debut in the US market, having been utilized on HS2 in the UK and Sydney Metro in Australia.
The RFQ is set to be released “in the coming days”, the GDC said.
“This innovative approach to delivering the Hudson Tunnel Project is the kind of outside-the-box thinking we must bring on this critical project,” said Balpreet Grewal-Virk, New Jersey commissioner and Gateway co-chair. “Private industry has told us they are ready to partner and help make sure the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project is built. This moves us another big step in that direction.”
