Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) have selected a winner for the WAHA hospital redevelopment P3.
Pomerleau has been selected as the winner for the project, with the firm supported by PwC, Kasian Architects and Bertrand Wheeler Architecture.
The team beat off competition from teams led by Bird and PCL.
The first progressive P3 of its kind, Pomerleau will now enter into a development phase alongside IO to jointly develop plans for a new hospital, mental health centre and ambulatory care centre. Once agreed, the team will then sign a design, build and finance contract to deliver the facilities.
The model was selected to help mitigate difficult risks associated with the project including arctic conditions. To read more about the model, click here.
Construction for the project is expected to start in 2024.
