Valued at €373.2m, the project, also known as the Thessaloniki Flyover, is the largest aerial road in Greece, running for 13km. It includes four uneven junctions, 4km of aerial road (a continuous flyover bridge), 10 new bridges and three new tunnels.

A consortium comprising Avax and Mytilineos will deliver the scheme, which will be the first road project in Greece to be delivered under a PPP model.

“In less than three years, we matured [the project] studiously, found the appropriate financial model, put it up for auction and today we are putting it into practice,” said Costas Karamanlis, minister of infrastructure and transport.
