Kier appoints new PFI leadership

Contractor Kier has appointed a new head of PFI.

Jim Olham will take up the position, joining from Mitie, where he served as head of operations in its education division.

Before joining Mitie, Oldham has worked at John Laing, Equitix, Amber and Amey.

The firm has undergone a major overhaul in the past few years, with its new chief executive Andrew Davies overseeing a refocusing of its efforts onto its core offerings, which included the sale of Kier Living. Last year, the firm's results showed a surge in its YOY pre-tax profit of over £10m to £15.9m.

In the results, Kier praised the role of partnerships, such as joint ventures. The firm was also part of the winning consortium on the Welsh Velindre Cancer Care mutual investment project (MIM) and is one of the two teams prequalified to take over on the £2.7bn Birmingham highway network, following Amey's exit from the project.
