Saudi Arabia’s National Centre for Privatisation & PPP (NCP) has approved over 200 projects, presenting major pipelines for various kinds of projects involving the private sector.

The pipeline stretches across 17 sectors from waste treatment to student housing to hospitals.

Although many of the projects’ models for delivery are unspecified, the certified PPPs include major projects such as a 180-school programme and a 150-site primary healthcare initiative, and at least one major highway project and at least one airport project.

The addition of highway and airport PPPs, with multiple others unspecified, represents a major expansion of the use of the DBFOM model in Saudi Arabia, reaching beyond the traditional social, civic, port and utilities sectors that the industry has been accustomed to.
