The achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are in need of an “urgent lifeline”, UN leadership says, urging more private investment.

Speaking at the World Bank’s spring meeting, UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed said that “public funds alone will not be sufficient.

“We need to provide a massive boost from private investment in developing countries,” she said, pointing to the role multilateral development banks can play in facilitating the flow of capital.

“We have no time to waste,” Mohammed added, saying that the new president of the World Bank could foster a “new era of PPPs.”
