The Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul has restarted the preparation of its major private P3 concession.

The project was previously planned to be auctioned in September this year, but it had been pulled “due to the lack of interested parties”, the state said.

The project has been scaled back from a 2,900 capacity prison to 1,200, which will be delivered over a 30-year P3 contract requiring an investment of around $30m.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), BNDES and the Federal Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) are helping structure the project.
