The General Directorate of Public-Private Partnerships (DGAPP) has released a request for expressions of interest (EOI) for its flagship highway P3, the Autopista del Ámbar project.
Under the plans, private partners will deliver a four-lane, 32km stretch from Santiago to Puerto Plata, featuring two tunnels along the route.
According to the authority, the project will “energize the entire area of the northern region of the country, not only promoting the development of tourism but also trade and merchandise transport”.
The project will be delivered through a design, build, finance, operate and maintain contract, with state authority RD Vial trust in control of toll collection.
DGAPP’s executive director Sigmund Freund said recently passed new laws will “erase bad experiences of the past” and will “guarantee an efficient distribution of risks and an adequate remuneration of benefits”.
According to an indicative timeline, completed bids are set to be submitted in January 2024. Before then, teams will have until July 24 2023 to submit interests, with enabling payment due July 19.
