Through the State Secretariat for Infrastructure (Seinfra), a private partner is being sought to develop the Costa do Descobrimento International Airport, in Santa Cruz Cabrália.

A private partner will develop the airport on 300 hectares of land, including a 3km landing and take-off runway, aircraft parking lot with capacity for up to 27 aircraft, a 48,000 m² passenger terminal, a regional hub and cargo transport facilities.

As part of the deal, the partner will also be responsible for adapting and improving the current Porto Seguro Airport. However, upon completion of the work, operations will be transferred to the new airport and Porto Seguro will be deactivated.

It is anticipated that the program will cost R$1.3bn (US$261m) and the partner will manage the project under a 30-year contract. An auction will be held in July.

The tender notice can be found in the Official State Gazette, which can be found here.
