The following six teams have been shortlisted:

  • CH4 Green Energy (comprising CH4 Green Energy and Lindsayca
  • Eco-Renovable (EcoRenovable, Peerless Oil and Chemicals)
  • Haina Investment Co
  • InterEnergy Group (InterEnergy Partners and Brookfield Global Transition Fund)
  • Karpower International
  • Tropigas de Puerto Rico (Tropigas de Puerto Rico, Cratos Project Services PR, Mitsubishi Americas Power, and NAES Corporation)

Two further, unnamed teams had also responded to the request for qualifications, but were not shortlisted.

Under the P3 contract, the winning team will enter into a long-term contract to identify a suitable site location, design, permit, finance, construct, install, manage, operate and maintain the generation facility.

“As we’re moving forward with the transformation and modernization of Puerto Rico’s energy system, this public-private partnership supports the ongoing efforts of strengthening the reliability of power generation on the island,” said Fermín Fontanés Gómez, executive director of the P3A.

A request for proposals will be issued to the six shortlisted teams in the coming weeks, the P3A said.
